Cleaning Vagina After Intercourse

Hygiene after sex is just as critical as cleanliness before sex. It is important for preserving intimate hygiene and can aid in the prevention of UTIs and other infections as well as keeping your surroundings clean.

Tips for how to clean and maintain vagina after intercourse:

  • Clean your private places with warm water or intimate cleansers.
  • Avoid using scented items because their high pH levels may irritate the vaginal area. Dry your vaginal region after washing and put on clean, dry underwear.
  • Always clean or wash from the front to the back while washing or wiping. This would prevent bacteria from the anus from spreading to the vaginal (or urethral) and causing infection.
  • Do not douche or apply soap inside as this can disrupt the natural good bacteria or vaginal flora and thus disturb the pH level, increasing the risk of STIs and vaginal infection.
  • Peeing after sex is one of the easiest ways to minimise the risk of infection. Any bacteria that would have entered the urethra during sex can be flushed out while peeing. Urine also restores the acidic pH of the perineal area.
  • The usage of intimate cleansing spray makes you feel fresh all the time, although this leads to stay active all day. There will be no smell in your intimate area
